The rapid retail expansion of ADER ERROR continues, and this time, another shop-in-shop, or Plug Shop, in the brand’s parlance, has opened its doors in Seoul. Situated at Lotte World Mall, on the premises of the soaring Lotte World Tower, the brand has secured a spacious standalone unit of 240 sqm. (2,583 sq.ft.) on a subterranean level, rubbing shoulders with the retail spaces of Nike, Maison Margiela Perfumes, COS and a slew of other leading names in fashion and cosmetics. As with every retail space, ADER ERROR has concepted a design theme, and here, it’s inspired by the current trend, predominantly in retail, to fuse the offline and online domains. The brand’s in-house design team have created a series of unique furnishings, all placed against a clean backdrop which features sleek metal clothing racks and tiered shelving, which aim to reflect this adventurous and exploratory fusion. Needless to say, the designs are highly evocative, making the retail space effortlessly stand out.
A so-called Cocoon Sound Speaker, a nifty three-dimensional object with a speaker unit and metal sculpture which obviously references the surrounding Jamsil neighbourhood, firmly anchors the chosen theme. Additional furnishings include the adjacent Persistence of Time chair, created in collaboration with artist Shin Dong-woo and comprising of three-dimensional timber curves, and right beside, small display tables which seemingly protrude from the floor. Also, there are three large tables crafted respectively from metal and comprising both straight lines and curves, another one which is more or less a sculpture as it depicts a giant head, and last but not least, one crafted from timber with a multi-coloured resin ball as one of its leg. Each piece contributes to the chosen visual narrative with a distinctive aesthetic. A configuration of chevron-shaped ceiling light fixtures add a dynamic visual element. Meanwhile, two quirky mannequins add a sense of proportion and relatability. The new ADER ERROR shop-in-shop stocks a selection of the brand’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes and jewellery pieces.
