After almost three months since opening a shop-in-shop at Matsuya Ginza department store, an event we’ve covered in a previous post, Officine Universelle Buly has inaugurated yet another retail space in Tokyo. Interestingly, the aforementioned shop-in-shop served as a pretaster of sorts for the fragrance brand’s newest standalone outpost in the city’s Daikanyama area. How so? Well, its design is a bold extrapolation, but one on a larger scale. The store occupies a ground floor unit of a five-storey residential structure built in the early 1980s, and has been fully redeveloped and designed by Officine Universelle Buly co-founder Ramdane Touhami in collaboration with Paris-based affiliated design firm Art Recherche Industrie. The design codes are inspired by classic French gardens, featuring green lacquer-finished walls and glass shelves that lend both contrast and brightness to a setting that unapologetically oozes garden greenhouse chic. The premises are light and airy thanks to large windows and faux skylights. The new Officine Universelle Buly store carries the brand’s full range of fragrances, beauty products and grooming utensils.
