Founders Stine Lindholm Pedersen and Tommas Olsen have been at the helm of NAKED Copenhagen since its inception two decades ago. Based in Copenhagen, the multi-brand retailer has specialised in top-tier releases of women’s sneakers, operating stores in the Danish capital and Aarhus, and a hugely successful online store which caters to customers across the planet. In 2021, French sportswear retailer Courir snapped up NAKED Copenhagen, allowing the latter to accelerate growth and expansion abroad under its own name. Now that the global pandemic has subsided, the first major step has been taken with the opening of a standalone store in Paris, one of the planet’s leading fashion and lifestyle hubs. NAKED Copenhagen has secured a 300 sqm. (3,229 sq.ft.) space on rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie in the city’s buzzing Marais district which is already home to many peers in the sneaker and streetwear segment.
The interior design is a collaborative effort of Copenhagen-based architecture and design practice Studio Daniel Kutlesovski and Alpine Office, a creative agency that’s also based in the Danish capital. Referencing NAKED Copenhagen‘s Scandinavian roots, the chosen aesthetic is minimalist, timeless, and infused with playful pastel colours. Beige fine-textured terrazzo flooring is paired with matte tone walls and ceilings, forming a backdrop for sleek aluminium shelving—an entire side wall features seemingly endless rows of them, while opposite, a single tiered unit can be found. In stark contrast, curvilinear volumes dipped in a soft blue hue take centre stage, some stacked, serving as both displays and seating. The back room adds to the backdrop with a large shelving unit in soft yellow. The layout invites shoppers to roam around the premises and explore the merchandise. The new NAKED Copenhagen store carries a wide range of women’s sneakers and apparel by leading brands, including New Balance, P.A.M., Y-3, Nike, Suicoke, Martine Rose and Reebok. © superfuture
