Only a few months after launching the first design-led ASKWATCH store in Tokyo‘s fast-paced Shinjuku shopping district, an event we talked about in a previous post, retail company Miraigakyoki Laboratory has opened a second outpost in Nakano. The store occupies a compact, elongated unit on the third floor of Nakano Broadway, a multi-storey building occupied by a myriad of shops and apartments. The interior design sees a renewed collaboration with local practice Kenta Nagai Studio, featuring a similar infusion of stone, but here, largely in polished form instead of raw concrete,, paired with wall-mounted cabinets in shiny metal. Flooring comprises of a seemingly floating carpeted board which extends to the far end of the shop, offset by a base of small pebbles. Mind you, at the entrance, tucked away in a corner, a small rock formation marks a mini Zen garden that greets visitors. In the middle of the store two recessed booths allow shoppers to sit back and ogle the coveted merchandise up close. It’s well-known among connaisseurs that ASKWATCH is a true watch haven, carrying a rare selection of luxury watches by leading brands from across the planet, including Rolex, Omega, Audemars Piguet, IWC, Vacheron Constantin, Panerai and Chanel.
