No longer the staid luxury brand since British designer Daniel Lee took the creative reigns, Bottega Veneta goes full throttle, following a more adventurous trajectory than ever before. It isn’t just the highly coveted new aesthetic and advertising campaigns, but also the brand’s retail spaces which signal the more forward brand identity. Enter luxury brand’s new pop-up store in New York City. No, it’s not in Manhattan, but in Williamsburg where Bottega Veneta has set up shop, and that’s a first for a luxury brand to do so. And if you ask us, it’ll most certainly set a precedent for the neighbourhood from a shopping perspective, as it puts the neighbourhood on a par with coveted shopping zones Soho, Chelsea and Nolita. Obviously, not just any location has been picked, and the ephemeral retail space found a home at a late 19th-century building with an ornate façade which was originally built for the North Side Bank of Brooklyn. Measuring 149 sqm. (1,600 sq.ft.) across a single floor, the lofty space sees a a homey yet sparsely furnished setting, featuring metal shelving and clothing racks, displays, and a display wall dipped in a bright green hue. The Bottega Veneta pop-up store carries a curated selection of items from the brand’s S/S 2021 Collection (open through Sep 30).
