Nope, we didn’t see this one coming, but it’s brilliant all the same. We’re talking the Birkenstock x Manolo Blahnik collaboration, a fusion of seemingly opposite aesthetics, but hey, it’s 2022! Manolo Blahnik, the legendary London-based cobbler, has worn Birkenstock sandals for many years, so this joint effort wasn’t much of a stretch for him. The concise collection, comprising only two Birkenstock models, the Arizona sandal and the Boston clog, tweaked in a very, very Blahnik way with velvet and leather, exuberant colours, but also black, glittering crystal buckles—of course, darling! So, there are four styles available in total: the Arizona sandal in fuchsia and blue velvet with French piping and a crystal buckle, the Boston clog with French piping and a crystal buckle, the Arizona sandal in smooth black leather and a crystal buckle, and last but not least, the Boston clog in smooth black leather and a crystal buckle. The collaboration is part of the Birkenstock 1774, the brand’s showcase for special projects in Paris, which has included tie-ups with other high-end brands such as Dior, Valentino, Rick Owens and Proenza Schouler. The Birkenstock x Manolo Blahnik collaborative collection will be available online shortly.
