Following the revamp of its flagship store in the Norrmalm district of downtown Stockholm, it’s now the turn of the Acne Studios boutique in the city’s Södermalm neighbourhood. The store occupies a unit on the ground floor of six-storey residential building and features an interior design by Christian Halleröd, a Stockholm-based architect and longtime collaborator of the fashion brand. The chosen aesthetic signals a new step in Acne Studios‘ retail design, flaunting the usual austerity, but captured in a different way. Pristine white walls are paired with flooring of large marble tiles in a soft pink hue, and dotting the premises are monumental volumes of the same material which either serve as partitions or embed shelving units. Acne Studios‘ digital domain merges with this revamped physical presence by way of six touchscreens which protrude from the ceiling, presenting the brand’s full collection, and yes, each item can be instantly ordered. New York City-based artist Jessi Reaves tweaked the touchscreens’ steel rods and also created stools for the store’s fitting rooms. Adding another bold artsy element to the setting are the mannequins created by lauded British sculptor Daniel Silver.
