Honouring its Williamsburg roots, rag & bone shifts its focus back to the neighbourhood where it all began almost two decades ago. The contemporary fashion brand duplicates its whimsical rag & bone Deli pop-up retail concept, initially launched last May across the East River at the Nordstrom flagship store on 57th Street. As its name already implies, the ephemeral retail space is inspired by the neighbourhood deli, a veritable icon of New York City, and its newest iteration takes it up a notch with a month long residency in a 1980s warehouse alongside Kent Avenue. The boxy brick façade has seen a colourful makeover by Auckland-born artist Askew One, but inside, shoppers will also come across a series of specially designed interventions, including billboard displays featuring rag & bone campaigns, a neon deli sign, and a hand-painted awning to frame the space.

The fitting room vestibule comes with a mirror giving the illusion of an infinite deli aisle. Also, rag & bone has commissioned acclaimed local artist Timothy Goodman to create a special graphic mural along an interior wall at the main entrance, and a digital screen streaming original content further bring the shopping experience to life. So, what’s on the shelves at the rag & bone Deli? The pop-up stocks a curated assortment of women’s and men’s everyday rag & bone essentials for the coming season, ranging from down-filled outerwear, cozy knit sets and a range of signature wool accessories, to the brand’s iconic Retro Runners, and a selection of denim and T-shirts. But that’s not all! Throughout the duration of the pop-up, shoppers can enjoy special complimentary food and beverages from Mom & Ice Pop’sKing David TacosYoung Coffee and La Newyorkina (open through Oct 4).
