Indicating the fashion realm’s mysterious ways is the latest boutique opening of A.P.C. in an emerging fringe pocket of Amsterdam‘s scenic Canal District. Despite having a longtime and sizeable following, served by a handful of curated resellers, the contemporary Paris-based brand has never had a branded retail presence. Well, that was yesterday. The new A.P.C. outpost, opened as a franchise in collaboration with the owners of well-known denim depository Tenue de Nîmes, occupies a double unit on the ground floor of a five-storey residential building with a brick façade. Needless to say, the interior design has been created by Paris-based architect and longtime collaborator Laurent Deroo, and sees an understated design, captured by merely timber and metal. Putting a visual spin on the design is the fact that the women’s unit is dipped in a soft beige hue, while a distinctive petrol blue marks the men’s section. And yet, decorative backlit wooden slats and scaffolding-inspired shelving and displays tie in both spaces. The new A.P.C. store carries the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, bags and shoes.
