Following the opening of cool resorts on the sun-drenched tropical islands Gili Meno and Bali, former Ksubi designer George Gorrow and his life partner Cisco Tschürtschenthaler have shifted their focus Down Under where they pulled off similar magic with a surf-inspired property in Crescent Head, a coastal town 340 km (211 miles) northeast of Sydney, and a true surfer’s paradise. Situated just a stone’s throw from Killick Beach, an existing property has seen a thorough yet thoughtful renovation which has retained its historical architectural elements and unique eccentricities. Aptly named Sea Sea Hotel, the boutique hotel features just 25 rooms in four different categories, and for those who love to live large, there’s the super spacious Villa which offers not only two sleeping areas: a master bedroom with a king bed and private lounge, and a bungalow featuring a U-shaped sofa convertible into three king single bed.

Additionally, – but also comes with a lounge area, outdoor seating, progressive mini-bars, a private pool, and a garden. Each room has been meticulously designed to evoke the easy breezy vibe of 1970s Australian surf culture, featuring homey settings infused with wood, some of which artisan-produced furniture pieces, handcrafted textures, such as the rugs and tapestries, and last but not least, compelling photographs of legendary kneeboarder and lensman Peter Crawford, and collaborative art pieces by artisan surfers Ozzy Wrong and Aleph Geddis. Embedded in the Sea Sea Hotel concept is the Surf Club, a multi-dimensional space with a revolving programme of musical gigs, social gatherings, and art exhibitions. The space features a combined surf and souvenir shop, audio lounge, and fireplace, in addition to a signature restaurant and a bar. © superfuture
