Although well-established as one of Europe’s premier luxury shopping grounds, Mayfair continues to evolve with new brands arriving, and those that already have set up shop, are further raising their profile. Having already established itself in the plush neighbourhood sixteen years ago, Rome-based men’s luxury tailoring brand Brioni falls in the latter category, following the opening of its fully revamped flagship store on Bruton Street. The store occupies approx. 5,000 sq.ft. (556 sqm.) across four floors of a 18th-century Georgian townhouse. The interior design, created by London-based architecture and design practice P. Joseph, is concepted as the home of a Roman gentleman, and as such, the original architecture sees a slightly playful yet sophisticated pairing with Italian elements. A floor mosaic inspired by the Pantheon has been uncovered, and decorative plasterwork restored to its former glory, complimented by tuff stone and travertine sourced from an ancient Bernini quarry, oozing a discreet opulence that seamlessly matches the house’s brand values. Adding up to the homey vibe is a carefully sourced range of Italian furniture pieces and tapestry from the 1950’s and 1960’s. The renewed Brioni flagship carries the brand’s full ready-to-wear collection, accessories and footwear, and also offers its renowned appointment-only bespoke tailoring services.
