Little over two years after DSQUARED2 shuttered its London store on the corner of Conduit Street and Savile Row, it has made a grand comeback to the leafy Mayfair retail arena. The Milan-based fashion brand, helmed by twin creative directors Dan and Dean Caten, has secured a 4,700 sq.ft. (437 sqm.) retail space spread across two floors of retail space and a basement of on the premises of redeveloped adjacent buildings on New Bond Street. The interior design, created by Milanese architecture and design practice storagemilano, and in contrast with the brand’s haute streetwear looks, it’s heavily inspired by an aesthetic which blends the Mid-century modern aesthetic with industrial elements, but also subtle nods to museum and archival heritage. Unsurprisingly, the designers had a 16th-century Wunderkammer in mind, and as such, the DSQUARED2 store offers shoppers plenty to discover. Walls covered in micro-cement, a modular aluminium grid ceiling and carpeting in different hues form the backdrop for a various lacquered wood furnishings and fixtures, notably a sizeable okoumé wood showcase on the ground floor. Other striking furnishings include custom-made cabinets, chandeliers and, inspired by the British capital’s underground, brightly coloured dividers in glass and Formica. The new DSQUARED2 store carries the full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, bags, small leather goods, shoes, and eyewear. © superfuture.com
