High-end goods may be abundantly available in Brazil‘s biggest cities, but the majority of these highly coveted items are crafted far beyond its boundaries. Designer Luiza Mallmann was born into a family who owned a shoe and bag factory in Novo Hamburgo, and it was only logical she’d dip her toe in the pool of accessories. Mallman’s brand Ryzí already is a household name in discerning fashion circles in her home country, and as of late, she has taken her business operations to the next level by opening the first Ryzí boutique with the help of a new business partner. Opting for a modestly sized unit on the premises of Cidade Jardim, a leading mall and a true hub of all things luxury in São Paulo, it features an evocative interior design by architects André Romitelli and Martina Brusius of local architecture and design practice Pistache Ganache.

The duo were given carte blanche and applied their obsession to cover surfaces, and yes, any surface and also objects, with carpets. Well, that’s exactly what they did, using a gradient blue carpet which eventually turns white on the upper sections of the walls. The colour scheme is a nod to the sky and the horizon as in shopping malls such as this one, one easily loses the sense of time and the passing of days. The large wall clock quirky reference to this notion. The sales counter, displays and also the customisable shelves are all clad in fabric and all corners and angles have been rounded to maximise the intended visual effect. The opposite wall is adorned by two mirrors and bags are presented by way of long hooks dangling from the ceiling. The new Ryzí store carries the brand’s full range of bags and collaboration designs.
