Founded by Mitsuru Kojima almost a decade ago, eyewear brand A.D.S.R. has gone leaps and bounds, creating a large following in the home market, and as of late, also increasingly overseas. The company has now made its first foray in retail with a standalone boutique at home base Osaka, and has picked a location in the popular shopping area of Minami Senba. The retail space is compact and measures 76 sqm. (818 sq.ft.), but also serves as a showroom and has additional office space from where all of A.D.S.R.‘s operations are managed. The Japanese brand has always affiliated itself with youth culture, and the music scene in general, and its name is an abbreviation of Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release, four terms associated to values used to modify the sound in its duration and which can be applied to targets such as volume, pitch and filter. The store’s interior design is clean and linear, featuring a height of counters and fixtures standardized 1,100 mm and a complete symmetry, and all captured by wood, concrete and marble. Taking centre stage is a mirror-clad display on a wooden platform which corresponds with a suspended ceiling with embedded spotlights. Interestingly, the building’s exposed steel beams and ceiling is incorporated in the interior design and adds a bold contrasting element to the setting. The new A.S.D.R. store carries the brand’s full range of merchandise, including its collab items.
