Three years after first opening up shop in São Paulo, BALENCIAGA has inaugurated a second boutique in this sprawling urban behemoth. Once again, it’s in a shopping centre, this time in what’s arguably the city’s leading luxury shopping centre—JK Iguatemi. Situated on the shopping centre’s ground floor, flanked by stores of leading brands from fashion’s upper echelon, the retail space measures 300 sqm. (3,230 sq.ft.). The interior design, created by BALENCIAGA‘s in-house design team in Paris, presents its groundbreaking ‘raw architecture’ aesthetic, featuring flooring of large concrete tiles, concrete wall panels overlaid by concrete slab shelving, a variety of furnishings crafted from stainless steel, and to top it all off, bold industrial light fixtures. Having adopted sustainability principles, BALENCIAGA has incorporated existing elements for the interior design in order to minimise the use of raw materials. And speaking of which, for the display tables and chairs locally produced vegan leather alternatives have been used. The new BALENCIAGA store carries women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags and shoes. © superfuture
