While Aspen may still have a hallowed aura of old money and pedigree, modern times have definitely made an entrance, allowing a more varied demographic of discerning ski aficionados to hit the slopes, or in summer, explore its splendorous surrounds on foot. Newly opened boutique hotel MOLLIE is the resort’s new beacon of hospitality, offering modern comfort and style to today’s savvy modern traveller. The property is named after the town’s most successful silver mine Mollie Gibson which originates from the late 19th-century and served as a catalyst for the town’s early economic, social, and cultural boom. Featuring 68 rooms and suites, it’s a collaborative effort of local real estate investment firm HayMax Capital and architecture practice CCY Architects.
The interior design, created by acclaimed New York City-based design practice Post Company, blends a warm sense of home with a contemporary view on style and comfort that ticks all our boxes. The meticulous design approach includes a reduction of excess with interiors that thoughtfully utilise native materials sourced from Aspen and the wider Western region, accentuated with natural woods, earthen ceramics, and hand-dyed textiles. The aesthetic seamlessly extends to the rooms and suites which offer all the comfort and relaxation modern travellers require, and come with a set of amenities that elevate any stay. Needless to say, the suites at MOLLIE lay it on a little bit thicker in terms of space and atmosphere.
The suites have separate sitting areas, wet bars and spacious private terraces that allow you to take in the gorgeous views overlooking the lush greens of Paepcke Park, Red Mountain and Shadow Mountain. The hotel lobby is a veritable social hub for guests and locals alike, and aptly comes with a laid-back café, bar and restaurant where to indulge and unwind from dusk to dawn. Mind you, each features a specific menu, and the restaurant even has vegan options. To be opened soon is a rooftop spa pool and terrace which transforms into an intimate lounge in the evening. And that’s not all. MOLLIE also offers meeting and event spaces designed to accommodate any gathering, from cocktail receptions and lunches to board meetings and small conferences. © superfuture
