The affiliation of luxury brands with hospitality has been going on for a while now, and we haven’t seen any sign of it slowing down. And now, even fashion house Saint Laurent has gotten in on the game, but quite differently, through a highly personal interest of its creative director Anthony Vaccarello. The latter has been such a fan of Sushi Park, a cult sushi diner tucked away in an unassuming strip mall (indeed, how typically L.A.) in West Hollywood, that he convinced owner Peter Park to collaborate on a pop-up at home base Paris. Needless to say, the recently opened Sushi Park Paris is a tad different in terms of ambiance, and as such, unapologetically plush. An integral part of the recently renovated Saint Laurent flagship store at 213 rue St.-Honoré, indeed the former location of legendary concept store Colette, the ephemeral diner has a separate entrance in a side street. Intimate and infused with timber, the aesthetic is a modern take on a traditional Japanese izakaya executed with a discriminating eye for detail, and so much so, that Park’s ceramist friend Daeyong Kim was commissioned to design the crockery of Sushi Park Paris. The menu at Sushi Park Paris is all about omakase, leaving it up to the chef which delicacies you’re being served. © superfuture
