Following a period of little over 30 years of successfully establishing a string of high-end and premium monobrand and multi-brand stores in downtown Saint Petersburg, sibling entrepreneurs Timur and Hatulia Avsadjanashvili have shifted their focus back to their native Georgia to audaciously establish what’s arguably the country’s biggest luxury fashion store. Occupying three floors of a historic building with an ornate façade on Shota Rostaveli Gamziri, a bustling thoroughfare in the centre of Tbilisi, the country’s capital, the BOYGAR’S boutique is an ode to the founders’ father. As such, the duo have gone the extra yard to create an exceptional shopping environment and tapped acclaimed Stockholm-based interior design practice Halleroed to do their magic.

The chosen aesthetic meticulously pairs the building’s architectural legacy with modern elements while the applied colour palette is anchored by a Georgian earthy theme which incorporates vibrant hues and elegant finishes. The lofty ground floor sees ceilings, walls, and its defining series of striking arches adorned with classic mouldings. Combined with Versailles parquet flooring, it forms the backdrop for a series of smaller, seemingly inserted backdrops in different materials and colours, most notably an elongated off-white wall which extends across the premises. Three imposing chandeliers further add to the boldly layered visual drama of BOYGAR’S ground floor space. A separate room is set up as a living room, albeit a very stylish one, with comfy seating and large mirrored panels with built-in lights which could perfectly serve as a private shopping domain for the store’s most discerning clientele.

One floor up, by way of an imposing marble-clad staircase, the design element goes full throttle. The settings are distinctly contemporary with minimalist design, tubular lighting, seating elements by Italian architect and designer Gaetano Pesce, and last but not least, a collection of curated artworks by talented young Georgian artists such as Shotiko Aptsiauri, Ana Gzirishvili and Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili. Mind you, striking adjacent nooks are dedicated to shoe and bag collections. Additionally, the space is dotted  with unique objects by designers Nata Janberidze and Keti Toloraia of Tbilisi-based design practice Rooms Studio. As said, the new BOYGAR’S store is a veritable luxury hub, and carries women’s and men’s collections of a slew of top fashion brands, including Jil Sander, KHAITE, The Row, LOEWE, Brioni, and Bottega Veneta. © superfuture
