MYKITA‘s store in Soho, it’s very first stateside, first opened its doors in 2013. The cult eyewear brand raised its profile in  what’s considered one of New York City‘s most popular shopping areas by relocating to a more prominent location a few blocks away with increased foot traffic on Broome Street. The boutique occupies a 148 sqm. (1,590 sq.ft.) ground floor unit and basement section of a five-storey structure built in 1900. The interior design, created by MYKITA‘s in-house design team, features a whitewashed setting, anchored by the brand’s signature display wall that extends all the way to the back of the store. A sales desk and an optical lab and workshop, housed in a cabin, are crafted from timber, and offer a contrasting note. The latter volume is framed by red metal beams that tie in with trolleys and benches made from the same material. And last but not least, the original neon light installation from the previous locations is repurposed, and finds a new home on the wall by the main consultation area at the back of the store. The new MYKITA store carries the brand’s full range if optical frames and sunglasses, in addition to its collab collections.
