Iconic Roman fashion house Valentino has had a presence on Sloane Street in London for quite some time, but as of late it has relocated and opened a new flagship store dedicated to womenswear on this swanky shopping artery. Mind you, property owner Cadogan, which owns swathes of real estate here, is transforming Sloane Street by expanding retail space, while in collaboration with the Kensington and Chelsea Council, a green boulevard spanning from Knightsbridge to Sloane Square is currently taking shape. Leading luxury brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and Bottega Veneta have already upsized their presence here, and now, also Valentino. The Roman fashion house’s retail space occupies 8,170 sq.ft. (759 sqm.) set across four floors of a townhouse with a traditional white stone façade. Designed by the Valentino in-house design team, the flagship store sees a colour palette that pays homage to its iconic motifs, including accessories, ready-to-wear and private spaces for customers.

The design of each floor is based on a distinctive visual theme based on the Maison’s iconic colours red, ivory and black. Neutral touches amidst the rich hues underline the collection’s aesthetic. The ground floor features the iconic checkered floor in Nero and Botticino marble that defines the colour scheme of the space. Here, the Maison’s accessories are displayed on black marble shelves and custom-made plexiglas showcases. Ivory wallpaper connects the room and architecture, giving a softer approach to the stone building. Bespoke lighting on the ceiling evokes the house’s signature rock studs, linking the store’s design once again with the Valentino design codes. An impressive staircase in red leads to the ivory-coloured second floor.

Here, shoes are displayed on an ivory colour carpet with balck and white striped motif which spreads across the ceiling and walls. Mario Bellini‘s Camaleonda sofa for B&B Italia is featured throughout the premises in different colours. The third floor is where Valentino‘s ready-to-wear collection is displayed, albeit in a different setting—ivory wallpaper contrasts with black wood floors and the same checked carpet as on the first floor. Minimalist displays made of plexiglass and brass lend a more personal feel to the space, which opens into a private fitting room with red seating. The fourth floor is reserved for V.I.P. shoppers, and pays homage to London‘s 1970s interior design movement, with a new interior featuring a red carpet and seating, mirrored walls, ceilings, and a combination of ivory and black elements. Indeed, this floor is dedicated to private appointments and oozes intimacy and exclusivity. © superfuture
