There’s no denying South Korea is one of Far East‘s most mature consumer markets, and and such, its retail arena is both extensive and highly differentiated, especially in Seoul. The capital city boasts multiple alluring shopping areas featuring stores of both homegrown and international brands which lure shoppers from home and increasingly abroad. The country’s savvy youth especially has a penchant for foreign brands, and it’s not surprising the latter go the extra yard to accommodate this deep-pocketed demographic. Rockfish Weatherwear is a British brand, specifically inspired by Cornwall country living, which makes classic items, such as wellies or rain boots, women’s shoes, socks, umbrellas and hats, and it has had two standalone boutiques in Seoul for some time. The brand’s store in Seongsu, a fast-emerging shopping area, has recently seen a redesign of its third floor.

Measuring 98 sqm. (1,055 sq.ft.), the interior design, created by local design practice DISITTE, is dubbed Tea House, and yes, as its name implies, it’s a place  inspired by the Cornish tradition of indulging in tea and scones, where shopper can sit back and relax. In order to evoke an authentic countryside ambiance at Rockfish Weatherwear‘s revamped third floor, meticulous attention to detail has been paid to select the materials and craft the furnishings. Walls covered in faux white planking wallpaper and dark moulded timber paneling and parquet flooring form the backdrop of a timber bar counter with matching mouldings, two large tiered shelving units, of which one, right next to the bar, comes with embedded loudspeakers, in addition to smaller shelving units. At the bar, moulded ceiling panels paired with bulb ceiling lights add a tad more visual drama. Additional furnishings comprise two communal tables and a small table are paired with cushioned stools. © superfuture
