It may be Kentucky‘s second biggest city, but Lexington has an appeal that goes far beyond the state borders thanks to its stature as the horse and bourbon capital of the world. And now, at long last, it has the lodgings to match. We’re talking The Manchester, a stylish newly built property which happens to sit on the site of the historic Ashland Distillery, Lexington’s first registered bourbon producer established in 1865. The property features 125 differently sized guest rooms and suites, and has been designed by American interior designer Jenny Bukovic who has created homey yet stylish range of settings. The chosen aesthetic comprises both historic nods and modern touches throughout the premises, and it’s captured by a carefully sourced range of materials. ,

These include handmade bejmat tiles, amber-toned fluted glass, Bluegrass-inspired barrel vault plaster ceilings and leather detailing that references to local equestrianism. Each room and suite pairs appealing design with modern comfort, making any stay at The Manchester a memorable one, and it’s brilliantly backed up by a matching set of facilities. Apart from the lobby bar & lounge, there’s Granddam, the hotel’s 140-seat restaurant named after a wise, figurative matriarch racing horse, serves a menu of eclectic Appalachian-inspired dishes. Lost Palm, a happening Art Deco rooftop bar and lounge, celebrates the nostalgic spirit of 1960’s South Florida horse racing culture, offering a selection of reimagined classic American cocktails with sweeping views of the city. Last but not least, the lobby is home to a bespoke bottle shop with a curated selection of local bourbons and ryes.
