Following a major presentation in Seoul last month, an event we’ve covered in a previous post, Rom Sangkavatana a.k.a. ROM is once again showcasing his creative vision at the TOWNHOUSE venue at home base Bangkok. The creative director, artist and producer of ROM Design has launched the second edition of his SPOTLIGHT exhibition series, collaborating with photographer Tenn Pannatat, with whom he collaborated for the show in the South Korean capital, and installation artist and fashion stylist Gamerror a.k.a. Athinop Niticharoen. The SPOTLIGHT exhibition series aims to create diversification in art and design, and establish a creative platform with new perspectives and cross-pollination, and last but not least, creating an impetus of sorts for Thai creative talent to enter the global arena.

The exhibition, simply entitled SPOTLIGHT – Episode 2, focuses on storytelling through pictures, but this time, on the visual narrative provided by invitee Tenn Pannatat who approached it through life perspective, resulting a hybrid expression which includes woodcut print, Asian New Wave cinema references and visuals with the eclectic colours with imagination and fantasy. The installation of Gamerror is inspired by childhood literature, obtained through the delusion in the world of games, computer and cartoon animation. The presented concept cares about society and its embrace of diversity by using performance art as a medium for creating debates and exchanging ideas. The eclectic duality of SPOTLIGHT – Episode 2 also aims to instill a new and memorable experience of the TOWNHOUSE venue, proving its purpose and mission for the creative community in Bangkok (on through Nov 30).
