As the planet’s biggest street art museum, Amsterdam‘s STRAAT has a reputation to uphold, and it does so with flying colours. The venue’s latest exhibition, the travelling group showcase entitled Direction | Instruction, opens today and presents more than 25 contemporary artists from eleven countries. A clear departure from the highly illustrative work that identifies the global mural genre, this exhibition celebrates abstraction, alternative materials, composition and language as counterpoint expressions in street art and graffiti. This also marks the first ever installment of this acclaimed group show in Europe. In addition to the gallery exhibition, several of the participating artists, including Remi Rough, Bisco Smith, Anti Goon, Chad Hasegawa, Tony Van Amsterdam and Tomislav Topic, will also be adding new large-scale permanent works to the growing main hall STRAAT collection.
