Following outposts in downtown Los Angeles and San José, Gentle Monster plants another flag on the U.S. West Coast. It’s at South Coast Plaza, the leading luxury hub for shoppers in and around leafy Orange County, where the South Korean eyewear brand has set up shop. The store occupies a 4,500 sq.ft. (418 sqm.) unit on Level 2, and similarly to other Gentle Monster retail spaces across the planet, this one features a wildly evocative and nifty interior design. Created by the brand’s Seoul-based in-house design team, the chosen theme is The Evolution, and reinterprets the natural process of evolution through digital and animated artwork. Upon entering the premises, shoppers are instantly immersed into a world of continuously rotating kinetic installations, video artwork, and objects that depict mechanisms of evolution. Showcased on interspersed shelving and displays, shoppers come across the full range of Gentle Monster‘s sunglasses and optical frames.
