Courrèges, the iconic brand founded in 1961 by André Courrèges and his wife Coqueline made waves in the fashion scene with its bold space age-inspired women’s collections. The fashion house gradually disappeared from the limelight in the decades after, but following the full takeover by Kering holding company Artémis in 2018, Courrèges is back on track since the creative reign of Belgian designer Nicolas Di Felice. The brand’s renaissance is celebrated with design-led retail spaces at home base Paris—the longtime flagship store on rue François 1er and a boutique which opened last year in the city’s Marais district. And now, Courrèges has audaciously crossed the Big Pond, to inaugurate a new boutique in New York City, signalling the brand’s renaissance to an even bigger international audience.

Securing a corner location at Grand Street in Soho, rubbing shoulders with boutiques of leading names in fashion, such as Kenzo, Alexander Wang and Ganni, the retail space sees a renewed collaboration between di Felice and Brussels-based architect Bernard Dubois. Similar to the retail spaces in the French capital, the Soho outpost builds on Courrèges‘ futuristic design legacy, featuring a minimalist space, pristinely whitewashed top to bottom and infused with fluid geometric lines. Furnishings are few and sparse, and some seem fused with the setting. A mirrored ceiling, pierced by club-grade spotlights that evoke a rave party ambiance that’s very dear to Di Felice, extends to the far end of the store which sees the fitting room area entirely clad in mirrors. The new Courrèges store carries the brand’s women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags and shoes.
