The retail expansion of Superette seems to be a never-ending affair. Cannabis consumption in Canada has been liberalised in 2018 and has seen an instant effect on the local retail scene in the country’s biggest cities with dedicated dispensaries popping up in many a cool neighbourhood. Superette has been evolved into prominent cannabis retailer in Toronto, managing no less than seven stores across town. Its latest retail outpost, situated in The Annex, an affluent downtown neighbourhood, sees a similar colourful aesthetic as all other stores. Created by Superette‘s in-house design team, the 500 sq.ft. (approx. 47 sqm.) setting takes cues from a classic 1960s Italian deli and the convivial spirit of the college canteen – mind you, the University of Toronto St. George and George Brown College’s Casa Loma campuses are just a stone’s throw away – and pairs the convenience of a corner deli and the novelty of a cannabis consumption lounge. Walls are dipped in a pistachio hue and paired with matching checkered flooring. The new Superette store exclusively sells a curated selection of ready-to-consume pre-rolls and beverages, but also blends in hipster lifestyle as for the first time ever, customers are encouraged to plug in their laptops and take advantage of the shop’s free WiFi. And that’s not all, The wall-mounted telephone by the window, or munchie phone in true Superette parlance, is a direct line to beloved Jewish deli Rose & Sons where patrons can order a range of tasty bites while working.
