Leave it to Demna Gvasalia to come up with a head-turning retail concept. The creative director of Paris-based fashion house Balenciaga has transformed its boutique in London‘s plush Mayfair neighbourhood into a pop-up store for the new and much hyped Le Cagole line that’s fronted by a shoulder bag in different sizes, but also includes sandals, boots and assorted small leather goods. Occupying a ground floor unit of a late 19th-century building, the interior design features walls, flooring and all furnishings covered from top to bottom in fluffy faux fur, and obviously, it’s in candy pink, the preferred colour of Generation Z females. So, shoppers are able to pick their trophy bag of choice from a wide selection of materials and colours, but on top of that, customisation is readily available too—think additional heart-shaped mirror or card holder in matching material and colour (open through May 8). Mind you, the ephemeral Le Cagole retail space is one of a series that the house of Balenciaga will launch at a handful of leading shopping destinations across the planet.
