Luxury retail in Oslo has gained new momentum with the opening of a new Louis Vuitton store. Relocated from a block away in the heart of the city to Karl Johans Gate, the new location is not only more prominent, but also much bigger, occupying 480 sqm. (5,167 sq.ft.) across two floors of a mid-19th century building by Norwegian architect Ove Ekman. The store opening marks a significant further expansion of the top segment of the local retail scene as it’s the very first outpost in the Nordic countries which offers the brand’s full range of products. The interior design, created by Louis Vuitton‘s in-house design team, sees whitewashed walls paired with light wood floors – light and bright, and indeed, a very Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic – and splashes of bright primary colours as a backdrop for various settings with a variety of shelving and other furnishings to display goods, but also alluring seating arrangements which feature furnishings by both leading Scandinavian and international designers, including Niels Eilersen chairs, a display table by India Mahdavi and Dick Cordemeijer‘s elegant Cleopatra daybeds. A curated range of artworks further boosts the shopping experience. For the more discerning shoppers, a private salon is readily available. The new Louis Vuitton carries women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes, eyewear, jewellery, books, and items from the Objets Nomades collection.
