The buzz has been ongoing since first rumours started spreading last Summer, and then finally, the international fashion press headlined Supreme‘s retail expansion to Berlin. Since being snapped up by VF Corporation a year ago, the cult skateboard lifestyle brand has seen an accelerated growth, and after opening up shop in Milan, it’s now the turn of the German capital. Unsurprisingly, the shop opens its doors in the Mitte district, occupying a location on Torstrasse which was built in the 1930s as a car workshop. In the past two decades when Mitte quickly emerged as one of the planet’s hottest shopping grounds, it has has seen many occupants and transformations over the years, including adidas’ No. 74 concept store and an MCM boutique. It’s an ideal location for Supreme as a string of compatible boutiques and other establishments with an urban edge can be found in the area.

The interior design, a collaborative effort by London-based design practices Brinkworth and Wilson Brothers, and architect Neil Logan from New York City, sees a signature industrial look with familiar elements, such as polished concrete flooring and a back wall plastered in iconography and overlaid with skateboards. Furnishings are few and merely include clothing racks and wooden shelving laden with coveted items line the side walls, in addition to a sales counter and a sculptural rock bench. A playful suspended jet fighter-like sculpture dangles from the wood-clad ceiling, and combined with two wall paintings, they further boosts the setting’s intentional playful vibe. Mind you, the sound installation is a clear indication Supreme‘s new outpost isn’t only a transactional space, but also a place where to let your hair down from time to time. The new Supreme store carries the branch full range of apparel, accessories, shoes and skateboards.
