The colourful and playful-chic pieces of designer Mira Mikati‘s eponymous womenswear brand may have have found their way to plenty of renowned shop across the planet, but only earlier this month did a dedicated boutique open its doors in London‘s gilded Chelsea district. Born in Beirut and raised in Paris, Mikati first stepped into the fashion and retail arena in 2007 when co-founding Plum, an upscale concept store in the heart of the Lebanese capital and much revered among fashion crowds across the Middle East region. Having trained at renowned fashion schools around the globe, the entrepreneur embarked on a new journey five years later, designing several coveted capsule collections for French label Façonnable, and which in a way, laid the foundation for her current ready-to-wear line.

The Mira Mikati brand has garnered a global cult following with its designs, and it’s partly due to a series of collaborations with leading artists from modern pop culture, such as Craig & Karl, Mr. and KAWS. The new boutique, aptly dubbed Happy House, occupies a 74 sqm. (797 sq.ft.) ground floor space of a low-rise building on a shopping lane just off Brompton Road, featuring an interior design by British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori. Fully matching the ‘happy aesthetic’ the Mira Mikati brand has become known for, the premises are infused with bright colours and patterns, featuring simple furnishings, such as clothing racks, displays and a robust wooden display table, in addition to a number of colour-tweaked vintage chairs. Mind you, the shop also comes with a cool back yard with a similar colour patterned floor, blue brick wall, and last but not least, a seesaw. The new Mira Mikati Play House carries the brand’s full range of apparel, shoes and accessories, in addition to a curated range of lifestyle products.
