There’s no doubt that China has bounced back in a big, big way, and the planet’s leading fashion brands have taken note, raising their profiles in the country’s biggest cities. Acne Studios already manages a sizeable network of boutiques in China, but still sees room for growth, opening a fourth outpost in Shanghai. The Stockholm-based brand has picked a double unit on the second floor of iapm, a high-end shopping centre in the city’s Jing’an district where many a premium and luxury brand has set up shop. Wedged in between the boutiques of Prada and Miu Miu, the store features an interior design by Swedish architect amd longtimr collaborator Christian Halleröd. The chosen aesthetic, similar to all other Acne Studios retail spaces, is understated, and sees undulating walls covered in beige carpeting, paired with flooring of matching stone tiles. Furnishings are few and simple, comprising sleek steel shelving, display tables and clothing racks which follow the walls’ flowing contours, and last but not least, chunky displays and seating by Max Lamb, a designer based in London. Linear ceiling light fixtures, designed by Paris-based designer Benoît Lalloz, add a visual dynamic to the setting. The new Acne Studios store carries the brand’s full range of women’s and men’s collections.
