Following Quartz Co.‘s much-publicised acquisition of luxury brand WANT Les Essentiels last Summer, the winter coat company is shifting gear, offering its discerning clientele synergised lifestyle offerings. Testing the water, Quartz Co. has launched pop-up stores at home base Montreal and in Toronto. The company tapped both Rainville Sangaré, a local architecture practice which designed the Quartz Co. flagship store, and production and design agency Studio Baillat to design the ephemeral retail spaces. In the Québec‘s largest city, the pop-up store is situated smack on rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, a popular shopping artery with an abundance of foot traffic. Taking ample cues from Nordic lifestyle, the region’s minimalist design sensibilities and rugged landscapes, in addition to Quartz Co.’s performance garments, the setting is clean and understated. An elongated custom display table takes centre stage, crafted from concrete and steel. It effortlessly ties in with the steel clothing racks lining the walls, interspersed by mirrors with a pinewood base. The new Quartz Co. pop-up store carries the brand’s newly-launched Fall/Winter 2021 Collection which includes men’s and women’s performance winter jackets and coats, crafted with ethically-sourced traceable down and this season’s new recycled nylon, and select other items by WANT Les Essentiels and Danner (open through Spring 2022).
