Founded in 2011 as a photography project by art director and photographer Francesco Ragazzi to capture  the skater scene of Los AngelesPalm Angels first evolved into a book published by Rizzoli, and four years later, into the coveted streetwear brand as we know it. Ever since, Palm Angels has gained a growing global fanbase, and as of late, at an accelerating pace, newly opened retail spaces are keeping abreast with the soaring demand and popularity. Needless to say, an outpost in Paris is a prerequisite for any self-discerning brand, and Palm Angels is no exception. The Milan-based company has secured a prestigious location on rue St.-Honoré, rubbing shoulders with the boutiques of Saint Laurent, Diptyque, Balenciaga and Acne Studios.

Occupying two floors of a stately residential structure built in 1789 – indeed, the tumultuous year of the French Revolution – the store features an interior design by local architecture practice Studio Henry. The design codes are a blend of bourgeois chic and contemporary playfulness, and it’s instantly evident when entering the premises. The ground floor is dominated by a monumental marble staircase loosely inspired by the one at nearby Palais Garnier, the more glamorous of the French capital’s two opera venues. and is paired with elegant marble tile flooring and cabochons in a contrasting hue. A decorative skateboard in marble, casually displayed, references the brand’s roots. Right behind the staircase an understated lounge can be found. One floor up, the actual retail space unfolds in a grand way, occupying the entire breadth of the building. Here, the setting is framed by a striking suspended light grid, lacquered timber wall panels, whitewashed walls, and similar marble flooring.

Furnishings comprise display cabinets in matching glossy timber, robust metal clothing racks dipped in electric pink, and large mirrors with solomonic columns. The attention to detail even extends to the fitting rooms which are in clad wallpaper with a palm leaf motif and furnished with low benches and a similar ornamental mirror. Last but not least, the Palm Angels store boasts a botanical corner, created in collaboration with This Humid House, a botanical design studio based in Singapore and Paris which features a selection of exuberant floral arrangements, plants and vessels which signals Palm Angels’ deep wonder and admiration for nature. The new Palm Angels store carries men’s, women’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes, jewellery pieces and eyewear, in addition to items for kids.
