The recent inauguration of Pendry West Hollywood, the latest in a string of property openings by the eponymous luxury hotel chain, comes with a buzzing social club right on top of the tallest of the venue’s two buildings. Called The Britely, the premises are infused with Old Hollywood glamour, albeit with a playful edge, and operates as a separate entity accessible only to members. Measuring approx. 25,000 sq.ft. (2,323 sqm.), the premises include a rooftop with swimming pool and sweeping views of Los Angeles, the settings have been designed by Martin Brudnizki, a sought-after Swedish interior architect based in both London and New York City. Although unintentional, the opening of The Britely is totally in sync with today’s global cocooning trend, but on a slightly bigger scale, and more importantly, with a number of top-notch perks. The buzzing social club comprises a plush lounge, Art Deco-inspired and playfully infused with a pink hue, featuring a bar and comfy sofas where to sit back and mingle over a cocktail, and for those into some jolly banter, two bowling alleys are readily available. Two restaurants of acclaimed chef Wolfgang Puck can be found on the premises, each featuring a different cuisine and setting. Ospero is a casual café in European style, featuring a an all-day menu of neighbourhood-friendly favourites, including classic salads, handmade pastas, vegan dishes and Puck’s renowned house-made pizzas, fresh the restaurant’s wood-burning pizza oven. A tad more fancy, Merois sits up on the roof beside the aforementioned pool, offering both indoor and al fresco dining in a plush yet frivolous Mediterranean ambiance. The menu reflects the melting pot that is Los Angeles, and lists Puck’s expert fusion of Japanese, Southeast Asian, and French/California cuisine. And that’s not all. The Britely additionally features a 24-hour gym, spa, screening room, a music and performance venue, and since it’s well-connected with the buzzing local creative community, a cultural programme full of cool events.
