Almost two years after its inauguration, the retro-chic Hotel Les Deux Gares in Paris sees a revamp of five suites on the first floor. The property, part of quirky French hospitality chain Touriste, is conveniently situated a stone’s throw away from Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est, two of the French capital’s main railway stations and biggest public transport hubs. Once again designed by British designer and columnist Luke Edward Hall, the hotel’s Superior Suite sees a ultra-comfy King Size bed with yellow headboard and bed skirt, and a matching sofa and curtains, all set against a backdrop of intricate motifs. The wall paper flaunts vertical off-white bands alternated by ones depicting intertwined chains, paired with carpeting featuring a striped cube motif. The playful black and white tiling that comes with the in-room bath tub adds more va-va-voom to the highly eclectic room design. The Deluxe Suite boasts a similar décor, but here, the colour red dominates the setting. The washbasin and shower, set in adjacent alcoves, both feature playful red and white checkered tiles offset by decorative bands. Both suite types also feature artwork created by the multitalented Hall himself.
