In 2020, fifty years after its foundation by husband-and-wife team Luigi Bestetti and Renata Pozzoli, sofa brand extraordinaire Living Divani opened a rather grand showroom in the undisputed global capital of design—Milan. The coveted sofa brand, creatively led since 1989 by acclaimed architect and designer Piero Lissoni, occupies a lofty L-shaped ground floor space of approx. 150 sqm. (1,615 sq.ft.) with six large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow in floods of daylight. Aptly called Living Divani Gallery, it’s conceived as a platform to showcase of the brand’s distinct contemporary style, and as of late, the premises reopened their doors for the first time since the pandemic, featuring an alluring new setting concepted by Lissoni. The backdrop of the space is clean and understated, offering a stark contrast with the building’s ornate 20th-century façade, and it gains a futuristic edge thanks to an infusion of shimmering silver fabric that has been used for a number of iconic Living Divani furnishings. On one side, a configuration of Extrasoft sofas is presented. Created in 2008 as a ‘softer’ version of the Extra Wall sofa, the aesthetic is less rigid, and as such, more suitable for residential spaces. Modular and versatile, the sofa not only offers endless configurations, but also easily adapts to a wide variety of styles. The store section facing Via Visconti di Modrone presents Lissoni’s Ile Club sofa with its signature sleek metal legs, and clad in both silver fabric and anthracite leather, all against the gallery’s permanent backdrop of corrugated steel which is interspersed with vertically placed tubular lights and a large suspended metal ceiling grid. Also presented here are Confident armchairs in similar upholstery.

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
