It’s not surprising that in a major business and industrial hub such as Milan, Thom Browne‘s clean tailored silhouettes resonate well, and we’re not only talking menswear. The New York City-based fashion house expanded its operations eight years ago,  launching its very own line of womenswear, and it’s betting big on segment. Following the opening in 2017 of the brand’s first standalone men’s boutique on Via Gesù, smack in the middle of the city’s prestigious Duomo district, a dedicated women’s store has opened its doors just a block away in Via Sant’Andrea. Occupying 158 sqm. (1,700 sq.ft.) spread across two floors of one of the many historic buildings that line this shopping thoroughfare, the retail space sees a renewed collaboration with architect Flavio Albanese of Italian architecture practice ASA Studio Albanese. The brand’s signature Mid-century modern office aesthetic has been fused with Georgian architecture, resulting in plastered walls grey with boiserie in contrasting white, terrazzo flooring, and obviously, windows with Venetian blinds. The store is furnished with a carefully sourced range of vintage Mid-century pieces by various iconic designers, including George Nakashima, Paul McCobb and Pierre Jeanneret, in addition to 1950s streetlight fixtures from Paris. The new Thom Browne store carries the full range of women’s apparel, accessories, eyewear and fragrances, but also apparel for kids, and offers made-to-measure services and personalisation.
