For all those engaging in Bangkok‘s buzzing café society, life got a little sweeter—and quite literally so. We’re talking the newly opened Honeyful Café which serves a variety of drinks and desserts made from honey, a novelty in the Thai capital. Situated in a leafy enclave south of the manicured greens of Benchasiri Park and the adjacent Emporium shopping mall, it occupies a cosy pavilion on the grounds of the Ariston Hotel. Both the structure and the interior have been designed by Bangkok-based architecture practice Spacy, and not surprisingly, sees plenty of beehive references. First of all, there’s the shape of the façade with its large glass bay window which allows in floods of daylight. The exterior may be clad in sheets of black metal, but inside, it’s light timber, whitewashed walls and hexagonal tiles which channel a warm and welcome aesthetic.

On one side, an elongated bench, paired with tables and chairs, lines the wall and extends into the aforementioned bay window. Here, the floor has been lowered and is furnished with ottomans, creating an intimate nook within the café. Beyond a curved window – mind you, the pavilion is built around an existing palm tree – on the opposite side, sits a service counter and bar with additional seating and shelving featuring a curated selection of merchandise. Honeyful Café owner Nuttawan Supapong is an avid honey advocate, and emphasises the liquid’s many health benefits with a menu of honey-inspired concoctions, ranging from freshly pressed almond milk with honey and apple juice with honey, to cheesecake with honey and puff pastry with honey.
