The collab between Dior‘s menswear creative director Kim Jones and luggage brand RIMOWA has been on the radar of the global fashion crowd for quite a while, but now the hotly anticipated goods can be seen before the official launch at a special pop-up store which has just opened in Paris. Situated at the Dior flagship store on avenue des Champs-Elysées, Jones also collaborated with the German brand on the pop-up store itself which sees a backdrop of floating clouds and an actual helicopter bearing a livery of RIMOWA‘s signature aluminium grey and a specially customized cockpit interior with seats upholstered in Dior’s oblique canvas which was created by designer Marc Bohan in 1967. Presented at the pop-up store are Dior x RIMOWA‘s Cabin and Trunk suitcases, as well as the Hand Case hand luggage piece. All three all accented with the signature Dior oblique motif in silver, matte black and gradient blue. The Personal is a portable aluminium case, featuring a leather cross-body strap embossed with ‘Christian Dior’ and an interior equipped to carry keepsakes and accessories. Mind you, special order items for the most discerning of Dior fans includes a super luxe Champagne Case which holds a bottle of champagne and six Dior champagne flutes. Also presented alongside the luggage pieces is a selection of items from the Dior Essentials line. The Dior x RIMOWA pop-up store will be open through Nov 13, before travelling to Shibuya Parco department in Tokyo and SKP mall in Beijing, as well as Miami‘s Design District and the Dior boutiques in Dubai and Hong Kong.
