Following the opening of an outpost in Tokyo eight years ago, MYKITA firmly plants a flag in Taipei. As one of the more advanced markets in the Far East, local shoppers are discerning also and know where to source their trophy goods. Needless to say, the Berlin-based eyewear brand cleverly indulges them by picking a location at Bellavita, an upscale mall in the downtown district of Xinyi. The boutique occupies a glass-encased 77 sqm. (829 sq.ft.) unit on one of the venue’s subterranean levels which allows passing shoppers unobstructed peeks of its signature minimalist interior. Created by company’s in-house design team, the retail space is part of a new generation of MYKITA boutiques which intentionally embeds local flavour in the applied design codes. Here in the Taiwanese capital, the understatement embeds a striking reference to the city’s abundant red brick architecture, and it’s captured by a variety of surfaces dipped in different shades of red. This backdrop is offset by the brand’s signature display walls in a pristine white hue, grey terrazzo flooring and displays of electroplated glass. The new MYKITA store comes with a fully equipped laboratory and Zeiss Vision Centre, staffed by an optometrist, provides a comprehensive optical service. carries the brand’s full range of frames, including its many coveted designer collab collections and a specially designed limited edition frame to commemorate the store opening.
