Following last year’s opening of a standalone store on one of the Dutch capital’s main canals, Unrecorded founders Jolle van der Mast and Daniel Archutowski have opened a new retail space. Situated just two blocks away, it will cater to the brand’s growing customer base with a similar range of sustainably manufactured unisex offerings, in addition to an assorted range of footwear and magazines. The new Unrecorded store measures 35 sqm. (377 sq.ft.) and occupies the ground floor of a listed building with a gabled façade of red bricks. In stark contrast with the detailed historic exterior, the indoor settings are clean and understated, and subtly reference the brand’s core values and strong stance on sustainability.

A whitewashed ceiling, walls and plank flooring form the backdrop of a few simple furnishings and fixtures, including a sales counter of untreated wood, a large mirror and wall-mounted clothing racks. The back room, furnished with a matching timber cabinet and a classic Hans Jørgensen Wegner chair, offers an equally welcoming section where shoppers can change into an Unrecorded garment of choice. The adjacent mini patio not only offers a tranquil refuge, but also funnels in plenty of daylight. Unrecorded’s unisex garments and brand values have resonated well with the local market. In order to keep operations aligned with this trend, yet another retail space is to open this Summer at another location within Amsterdam’s scenic Canal District. This store has larger dimensions and will be the founders’ most ambitious retail project to date. Location: Unrecorded, Runstraat 26 (Centrum).
