Fashion house Jil Sander joins the annual design spectacle that is Salone del Mobile with a presentation held on the premises of its headquarters in Milan‘s historic Brera district. Creative directors Luke and Lucie Meier have worked together with Australian artist Linda Tegg on Adjacent Field, an elaborate installation that’s aligned with the newly launched Jil Sander+ collection. The latter is a new seasonal line that will focus on research, innovation and specialised partnerships, the first one of which being British heritage brand Mackintosh, and envisages durable men’s and women’s garments made specifically for life outside of the city. Fully inspired by this creative vision, the exhibition features a collection of plants that Tegg has sourced in collaboration with garden designer Matteo Foschi. Interestingly, all the plants originate from the fields inside and around the city, and are arranged within a lighting installation specifically designed by lighting consultancy NDYLight (on through Apr 14). Mind you, after the show has ended, some of the plants will be returned to their original environment, while others will find a new spot on the premises of the Jil Sander head office. Meanwhile at the Jil Sander flagship store, five large-scale field photographs taken in the streets of the city by Tegg’s partner and collaborator David Fox, offer an alternate view on the installation.
