It has only three months since Comme des Garçons launched CDG, an elaborate collection of logo-infused apparel, accessories and other items that banks on a trend that doesn’t seem to fade anytime soon. To indulge the large fanbase on home turf, a dedicated CDG store has opened its doors on the premises of GYRE, a landmark mall on Omotesando Dori in Tokyo. Interestingly, the store replaces the brand’s Good Design Shop, an affiliated retail format which laid the very foundation of the CDG collection. The store is situated on the second floor, and is concepted as an opened box – albeit one with the CDG logo boldly featured across the walls, ceiling and floor. Furnishings are sparse, comprising of an elongated sales counter at the entrance and monolithic shelving units at the far end. The new CDG store carries a wide and rotating range of items, including various collab pieces with street brands such as Anti Social Social Club, Molinel and Brain Dead. Meanwhile, a second dedicated CDG store has also been launched in downtown Osaka.

Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
