Nordic design haven Normann Copenhagen has swung the doors of its showroom in the Danish capital widely open again, revealing an entirely new set-up. The brand recently tweaked its graphic identity, albeit lightly, including a redesign of the logo and a tightly curated colour chart. The metal-cad corridor which connects the entrance with the indoor spaces warms up visitors up for what lies ahead with a special exhibition of the company’s popular designs,  inspired by the Danish concept of hygge, a word which translates as homely cosiness. On display are pieces of the aptly named Hyg furniture range, marking the launch of new shell chairs to the collection. The showroom, comprising of a lofty ground floor and spacious basement section in a monumental late 19th-century building, once again sees an entirely new and evocative set-up of the leading design brand’s coveted treasures, and this time, it’s centred on contrasts.

Mind you, the large Ballroom has been opened up in its entirety, displaying the former movie theatre auditorium –  the so-called Biorama cinema occupied the premises for over 50 years and moved out in the late 1970s – in all its glory. The colour shake-up has resulted in muted tones of sand, off-white and camel, accentuated by bold accent colours such as green and blue. A variety of settings demonstrate the breadth of Normann Copenhagen’s furniture ranges and they’re paired with alluring light installations. Soft meets sharp, and the playful meets the sophisticated, allowing the new showroom presentation to signal fresh new perspectives. The gallery downstairs sees another immersive transformation. Following fantastic colour-infused settings of millennial pink to shin gold, the most experimental part of the Normann Copenhagen store is now dipped in a deep blue hue. Visitors are enveloped by a monochrome universe in the electrical energy and calming depths of this shade, while soft, honey-coloured leather furnishings brighten up the blue background.
