Hot on the heels of the opening of a new boutique in Tokyo, an event we covered in a previous post, Off-White has launched a hotly anticipated flagship store in Paris. Situated a stone’s throw away from place Vendôme and rue St.-Honoré, both prestigious addresses where the boutiques of high-end brands congregate, the luxury streetwear brand has secured a three-floor unit inside a 19th-century building. The interior design, a collaborative effort of Abloh with AMO, research and design studio affiliated to acclaimed Dutch architecture practice OMA, is understated and modern, offering a stark contrast to the building’s ornate classic façade. Before entering the premises through the main entrance on rue de Castiglione, shoppers pass through a semi-circular foyer elegantly encased in corrugated glass. Light and bright, thanks to a grid of ceiling lights and walls, flooring and furnishings clad in light-coloured travertine, the ground floor presents Off-White’s most exclusive and experimental men’s and women’s pieces, while also functioning as a hub for collaborations and special projects. Presenting yet another contrast is the entrance on rue du Mont-Thabor, featuring a backdrop of pale blue walls and a black terrazzo floor for custom-designed furniture. The gallery area presents Off-White’s various brand partnerships, including a dedicated space featuring select Nike products. The second floor and mezzanine level present a curation of objects from exclusive capsules to Off-White’s homeware collection, the kids collection, but also sees an exhibition space. Finally, on the third floor, the brand’s most iconic and beloved items, ranging from denim pieces to sneakers are showcased in a high-ceilinged room with ample natural light. And that’s not all. After all the splurging downstairs, shoppers can sit back at a café managed in partnership with % Arabica, a coffee company based in Kyoto which only recently entered the French market.
