Founded by wine professional Elad Shoham, the newly opened Mikve wine bar and shop is exemplary of his multi-faceted vision and desire to share his knowledge. Nestled in downtown Tel Aviv, the venue occupies just 35 sqm. on the ground floor of a brick building. The interior design, created by local architecture and design practice Studio Simon Barazin, designed a sleek circular stainless steel counter with basin and used it as the focal point of the retail setting. Additionally, it’s accompanied by a suspended lamp crafted from the same material and in an identical shape. Given its purpose as the epicentre of Mikve‘s rotational programme of wine tastings, lectures on unique grape varieties, and sales transactions, and last but not least, its shape, a natural circular flow occurs within the retail space.
The counter is flanked on three sides by a seemingly inserted shelving system with cabinets and two small attached tables, crafted from MDF – the material has not only been selected for its accessibility and availability, but also for its rich and layered visual and textural quality – and paired with stainless steel elements. Additional furnishings include another small stainless steel sink and a storage unit at the back, a large wine fridge cabinet, a matching low bench lining the window. Outside, a small terrace allows for sipping wine al fresco. The new Mikve bar and shop has already become the epicentre of wine aficionados, stocking a curated range of read and white wines, including bubbly ones, from across the planet, and obviously, all tightly curated by Shoham. © superfuture
