Since as early as 2006, Thom Browne has had a retail presence in New York City. Situated on Hudson Street, first with one men’s store, then an additional women’s store, and eventually just one retail space carrying both collections. As of late, the brand has once again raised its retail profile in the city with a new outpost uptown. Mind you, another new shop also opened its doors in Los Angeles, but let’s go back to the Upper East Side store, shall we? It occupies a ground floor unit on the premises of a 17-storey residential structure with a limestone façade built in 1937, and the interior design has been created in-house. Similar to many Thom Browne retail spaces, the retail space is infused with grey travertine, cladding both floors, walls and beams, offering a stylish frame for the grid-patterned Barrisol stretch ceiling. The setting is less Mid-century office, but in line with plush neighbourhood, it’s more upscale residence, featuring a string of tightly curated elegant furnishings.
