Following her graduation from the Raffles College of Design in Sydney, Surabaya-born designer Peggy Hartanto moved back home, and established her namesake women’s high-fashion brand with siblings Petty and Lydia Hartanto in 2012. Over a decade on, Peggy Hartanto‘s modern designs continue to resonate with a fashion-forward demographic both on home turf and abroad. The brand, which is stocked by leading retailers in Jakarta and far flung places, such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beirut and New York City, has recently taken its operations to a new level by opening a flagship store, its very first, in the sprawling Indonesian capital. The boutique occupies a lofty, 73.15 sqm. (787 sq.ft.) unit on the second floor of Plaza Senayan, one of the city’s leading luxury shopping centres, featuring an interior design by the brand’s in-house design team and executed by local contractor Kingsmen Indonesia. As an extrapolation of the fashion house’s signature design codes, the store’s interior design is distinctly contemporary, featuring clean and elegant architectural lines inspired by nature.
The façade features side panels comprised of large-sized and textured faux blocks, dipped in a Pantone Dusty Turquoise hue, adorned with the name of the fashion house on one side, and the brand’s three-leafed clover logo on the other. The expansive mid-section comprises floor-to-ceiling glass. Inside, the aforementioned side panels gain volume, and quite literally so, accommodating a fitting room and storage on either end of the retail space, while also tying in with two pillars in the middle of the setting, visually bound together by sleek tiered shelving. Dark timber clothing racks line almost the entire length of the back wall covered in textured clay paint, and they’re paired with a curved bench clad with chunky legs in patterned veneer and a matching display table. Additional furnishings and fixtures include a small green marble-clad counter, a stainless steel cabinet and matching shelving.
