Swedish fashion brand Filippa K was founded in 1993 by its name giver Filippa Knutsson, her now former husband Patrik Kihlborg and Karin Hellners. Resonating well with a young and forward demographic, the brand opened its first retail space only four years later at home base Stockholm. Situated on the ground floor of a monumental building erected in 1913 in the city’s downtown Södermalm district, the store has seen a recent revamp by Filippa K‘s in-house design team. Still very much a minimalist white oasis, the all-white premises are now less 1980s spaceship, and instead ooze contemporary art gallery, albeit a tightly curated one, dotted with alluring furniture and design trophies. The latter collection includes a commissioned wooden sculpture and floral installation created respectively by designer Veine Bartos and creative studio Yvonne Club, and a playful glass cherry is by artist Gunilla Kihlgren, while all the wooden furniture comprises hand-selected vintage pieces.
